I did not realize the impact of a new hairstyle and how it can make you feel. After my hair was burned and fried off by my curling iron (don't know why all of a sudden my hair reacted to that) I had to move to a different cut as my hair grew back from being burned off (thanks to my daughter as inspiration) I started using Velco rollers and as a result got a much more up to date look after I stopped curling my hair like a grandma. My new cut made me current, a huge lift when you turn 50. My motto, "it is only hair and it WILL grow back"

Karen, this is a lot of great information for those new to changing their hairstyle! Over the last few years I myself have gradually gotten shorter and shorter. Now my hair is shorter than I think it's ever been, and I've been getting compliments like crazy.
Communication with your hair stylist is SO important. I agree with you 100% about asking questions, asking for suggestions, and making sure that your stylist is current. The worst thing is to have a stylist who has old info, and who is not on her game enough to recommend a flattering cut based on hair type, and face shape.
If I was just venturing into changing my hair style I would print this out.
